Joshua Mitchell is a professor of political theory at Georgetown University. He has been Chairman of the Government Department and was a member of the Start-Up Team for Georgetown's School of Foreign Service in Qatar in 2005. During the 2008-10 academic years, he served as the Acting Chancellor of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. He is currently a senior fellow at The Woodson Center. Mitchell is the author, among several other books, of Tocqueville in Arabia and American Awakening: Identity Politics and Other Afflictions of Our Time.
